India's Indranil Roy Chowdhury directed 'Mayar Janjal', a Bangladesh-India joint production based on Manik Banerjee's two short stories. Dhakai actress Opi Karim will be seen on the big screen after many years through the film. Her character's name in the film is Soma. Her poor family with her husband and only child. Husband is unemployed. For this reason, Soma took a job as a caretaker in a house to teach her child in English medium.
OP Karim's first film was 'Bachelor' in 2004 directed by Mustafa Sarayar Farooqui. He was not found on the big screen after that. He is returning to the cinema again with 'Mayar Janjal'.
From the first film to the second film, 18 years have passed! But why? In response, Opie Karim told Bangla Tribune, "It was the first time I got interested after hearing about Indranil, the producer. I read the story later. That also attracted me a lot. The interesting thing about the storytelling of this story is that the story is very interesting. If you look at the story from above, it will look like a wave. Reading this script, you will feel that individually we are connecting each other. Third is my character. Soma is not a very big character. But there is a strange magic in it. Doing the job at all. Maybe I was waiting for something like that.
Ritvik Chakraborty, one of the Tollywood actors, played the role of Soma's husband. Myer Janjal had its world premiere at the official selection of the Asian New Talent Awards at China's prestigious Shanghai International Film Festival. It had its European premiere at the Films Around the World section of the Moscow International Film Festival. The film was then invited to the Asian Perspectives section of the Jogja-Netpack Asian Film Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia.
