Bramhotsavam Review

Story

Four brothers(Sathyaraj, Naresh, Sayaji Shinde, and Krishna Bhagavan) live under the same roof along with their families and their brother-in-law (Rao Ramesh). The eldest brother(Sathyaraj) and his Son(Mahesh Babu) want all the family members to be together forever and spend every occasion as an utsavam(celebration). Their family gets disturbed when the brother-in-law decides to move out of the house. Would the family get back together again and what happens in that journey forms the remaining story.

Performances

Mahesh Babu is elegant and stylish in the role of a rich son. He also underplayed the role to suit the character. He did well in emotional scenes though the scope was limited. Sathyaraj played an important role but I thought somebody like Prakash Raj would have done better justice to the role. Kajal performed really well in a short role and Samantha was just OK. Rao Ramesh does a fine job as a bad guy and he brought the right attitude of a baddie with his dialog delivery. Revathi and Jayasudha stand out in their roles. There are a lot of other characters with small roles who get unnoticed.

Technical Departments

The story written by Srikanth Addala talks about family, relatives, and their togetherness. He also deals with the ideas of what it takes to find somebody's family roots. Though it would have sounded good on paper, he could not transform the same story into an interesting screenplay. The love story written on the lead pairs also seems disjointed. The cinematography by Rathnavelu is an asset to the movie. The sequences shot in Ooty in the first half and the traveling sequences in the second half shot in North India were captured brilliantly. Editing by Venkateswara Rao seems disconnected. Music by Mickey J Meyer sounds ok on the screen with most of the songs coming in the first half. Background music by Mani Sharma adds value.

Analysis

The movie starts by introducing all the various characters in the movie and it takes a while to figure out the relationships between all of them. The movie continues with the love story of Mahesh and Kajal but it looks disoriented. The scenes shot in Ooty look beautiful on screen. The first half ends on an interesting note with a beautiful sequence shot between the lead pair. The second half begins and continues on a totally different path. All the traveling scenes do not seem convincing and the entire episode of finding seven generations does not strike a chord with the audience. The second half also becomes too long and the movie becomes boring as it gets to the end. The plus points of the movie are its simple content with a novel concept of togetherness but a disoriented screenplay and a long second half make it a boring film to watch. It can be watched once but go with a lot of patience.
