Corona's effects will increase food crisis in the world: UN
The effects of the coronavirus will increase natural disasters, climate change, grain diseases, and animal diseases. And this is going to put a big strain on global food security. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has expressed such fears.
According to a report in the Russian media RT on Sunday (March 21st), a survey conducted by the agency said that 2.5 billion people are involved in agriculture worldwide. Most of them live in low-income and developing countries and these people are more dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. There is no other sector outside of agriculture that has faced such a huge advantage or challenge.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) says billions of dollars have been lost globally between 2007 and 2018 due to declining animal and food production in the face of natural disasters. The sub-Saharan and North Africa lost ৩০ 30 billion at the time. Latin American and Caribbean countries, however, have to pay a little less. Natural disasters in the region have caused ও 29 billion in losses due to declining animal and grain production. At the same time, Asia has lost বিল 49 billion for the same reason.
The United Nations predicts that by 2030, one billion people worldwide will fall below the poverty line. And this decline in the quality of life of this huge number of people will not be able to cope with the effects of the Coronavirus.
