On February 24 and March 5, the state-of-the-art Dash 8-400 model 'Akashtari' and 'Shwetabalaka' were added to the fleet. The two aircraft are the second and third of three aircraft purchased on a GTZ basis between the governments of Bangladesh and Canada. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself has named the two aircraft.
The new state-of-the-art 64-seat Dash 8-400 aircraft built by the famous Canadian aircraft manufacturer De Havilland. The Dash-8 is known for its low-cost, smooth, and smooth flight from very short runways.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines hosted a function at the VVIP building of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on the occasion of the inauguration of the two planes. From there, the Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Tourism joined the video conference with the Prime Minister. Mahbub Ali, Secretary of the Ministry M Mokammel Hossain, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) M Mofidur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal, and other senior officials of the Ministry and Biman.
