Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq has said that the expansion in greatest punishment for assault from life detainment to capital punishment will serve to diminish the quantity of such wrongdoings submitted in the nation.
The clergyman offered the comments at a question and answer session at his Gulshan office in the capital on Monday evening.
"The greatest discipline for assault is being raised because of conditions. There's a great deal of debate far and wide concerning capital punishment. Yet, since assault has arrived at such scourge extents in the nation, the leader concluded that discipline for such wrongdoings ought to be expanded. The law is being revised to mirror that," he said.
Prior on Thursday, the law serve said that his service had made a proposition for affirming capital punishment as the most elevated discipline for assault.
On Monday, the bureau affirmed the change of the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act-2000 to incorporate capital punishment for culprits of assault.
A progression of assault occurrences have shaken Bangladesh lately, setting off countrywide fights.
As per Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK), among January and September of 2020, almost 1,000 assault cases were accounted for, including 208 assaults.
