Numerous clubs expected that sending their players on long excursions to infection problem areas — especially in South America, where meeting all requirements for the 2022 World Cup started a week ago — could leave them helpless against disease or cause them to take the infection back to their European groups.

Players who voyaged now will confront isolates or different limitations — and conceivably even miss class games — upon their re-visitation of specific nations, including the United States.
